WHAT DO YOU SEE?

2 Kings 2: 9
The Word: 2 Kings 2: 9 (KJV)

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

Dig Deeper:
2 Kings 2: 10
(KJV)

10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

Think about it
WHAT DO YOU SEE?

We ‘ve been using thesame text of Elijah and Elisha crossing the river Jordan for a while now. Let’s take another lesson from the text again today. Elisha was ambitious,he wanted a double portion of the anointing, he perhaps wanted to break Elijah’s records…. That is allowed spiritually as long as your heart is not lifted up thinking you are doer of the works. You can go farther than your Pastor or mentor. When Elijah said: Ask what shall I do for thee? Elisha had a prepared answer ‘Give me a double portion’
Elisha did not say ‘Let me please go home and think about it’
Imagine God standing in front of you right now asking: ‘What do you want for 2017? You should have a ready made answer by now. Jesus asked Bartimaeus the blind man what he wanted. He had a ready made answer ‘That I may receive my sight’ It was clear cut. The starting point to 2017 is knowing what you want because opportunity usually results in success when we are ready for it. God wants you to have a clear cut mental image of how you want 2017 to be. That image is the starting point. So Elijah gave a condition required to receive the double portion: ‘What you have asked for is difficult but if you see me when I am taken away, you will get the double portion’

Suddenly, a chariot of fire separated both of them and Elisha cried
‘My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof….’
To paraphrase what he said, he was crying ‘I can see you, I can see you…’

So what do you see in 2017? What you see God is committed to perform.

Genesis 13: 14 – 15
14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: 15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

I’ll tell you what I see:
I see GRACE….
I see EASE….
I see an end to long time STRUGGLE
I see REST.
