18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Think about it

THY WORD IS A LAMP
God’s word is illumination. God’s word is light.
In other words when God’s word comes alive in our inside, suddenly we gain understanding and there comes clarity. In life there are so many things that are complex. There are so many times we need to make decisions and we are not 100% sure. In situations like that, God’s word can bring clarity.

But how does God’s word bring clarity?
1.  When we read the testimonies and stories in the scriptures, we gain applicable wisdom and suddenly we know what to do in our own situation.

the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Psalm 19: 7b

Scriptural testimonies impart wisdom unto us. They make a simple ordinary person become wise. What is wisdom? It is knowing what to do. It is the correct application of knowledge. Scriptural stories births wisdom

2. When the Holy Spirit breathes on certain verses that we have read in the past, suddenly that scripture is quickened (activated) and comes to life. The words in the bible are just plain letters ordinarily. But they come to life when inspired by the Holy Spirit. That is why our memory verse this month says: the entrance of thy word giveth light. When the word of comes alive, its like suddenly the light bulbs are turned on in a dark room and then we can clearly see.

Our text today:
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

With the sunlight you can see the environment, you can see several meters or even a kilometer away atimes. So the light unto my path means God’s word allows us to see or project into the future. When God’s word is activated, we can foresee what the future is likely to be. So the light unto my path allows future seeing. But that scripture also says: thy word is a lamp unto my feet. With a lantern or a lamp you don’t see very far. But a lantern allows you to see the immediate. It allows you to walk in the house without knocking things down with your feet. In other words, there is a dimension of God’s word that allows us to plan for the future (that is light to my path). There is also a dimension of God’s word that allows us to make detailed, day to day almost mundane immediate decisions (that is lamp unto my feet)

In other words, if I want clarity and illumination, I should have a plan of getting enough of God’s word into my system on a daily basis
