The Word: Psalm 119: 1 – 3(KJV)
1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. 2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. 3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

AN ANTIDOTE FOR SIN
Our focus like we said this month will be God’s word.
– Understanding the word
– Appreciating the power in the word
– Going back into methods of studying the word.
Our text today offers an antidote on how to have power over sin. We understand from the book of James that sin usually comes or starts from being tempted.
John 1: 14
14 But every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.
Temptation has several meanings: It could mean a test, trial, exam etc. But in this context, it means to be attracted, lured, enticed, seduced or ensnared. In summary, sin can be attractive and enticing. In a case where a part of us actually wants to do what is wrong even though we know it is not God’s will then our will power is already weakened to an extent. So the Psalmist has an advice for us on how to keep ourselves from being enticed by sin. The counsel is to constantly keep the word in our heart.
Psalm 119: 11
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
When there is an abundance of God’s word in our heart, our spirit man is boosted, when we are strong spiritually, it is easy to resist Satan.
How do we keep God’s word constantly in our heart?
– By snacking the word.
Just constantly reading a verse or a phrase and turning it over in our minds. Just like we have snacks in between meals, besides our normal quiet time, we just read a scripture or a page or a word and think about it. By consciously keeping God’s word in our heart constantly we can grow spiritually atleast 50% faster.
