THE DISCIPLE – UNTIL THE SPIRIT BE POURED
April 24, 2020

The Word: Isaiah 32: 15(KJV)

15 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.

Dig Deeper: Acts 1: 8  (KJV)

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Think about it

UNTIL THE SPIRIT BE POURED
When Jesus was about leaving, he instructed the disciples to go make other disciples:

Matthew 28:19

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

So God wants us to make disciples. However you can’t make disciples without the Holy Spirit. It takes the revived to kindle the fire of revival.  So Jesus advised the disciples: don’t bother going out to make disciples until you have first been empowered by the Holy Spirit. It will only result in a fruitless effort. The power to become a disciple or make disciple comes from the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 32: 15
15 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.

Until the Holy Spirit convicts an individual, our analytical argument will not result in conversion. Until the Holy Spirit came on the scene, the earth was without form and void (Genesis 1: 1-2)

The Outpour of the Holy Spirit is needed  before we can be true representative of the Kingdom on earth. The disciple cannot be effective without the power of the Holy Spirit

Nuggets:
Until there is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we can’t be effective disciples

Our memory verse for March 2018
Luke 9: 23

23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Let’s take a few moment to learn our memory verse for this month by heart. It can be memorised in 3 lines:
Line 1:  And he said to them all,
Line 2If any man will come after me, let him deny himself,
Line 3and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Once you say it a few times it will stick.

Prayer focus: Our next level prayers:
Lord help me become a true follower of you….
