The Word: Hebrews 6: 12(KJV)
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Dig Deeper: Hebrews 6: 13 – 15(KJV)
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Think about it
THROUGH FAITH AND PATIENCE
When God promised Abraham, he said; ‘Surely blessing I will bless thee’
When God uses the word surely, it means his mind is made up. The only way there could be a failure is if we live in sin or disobedience.
As long as we don’t live in sin and disobedience that promise cannot fail. God is the one that opens a door no one can close. Satan is inconsequential when obedience is in place.
Our text says:
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
To be slothful is to be lazy or be laid back. We are told not to be slothful, instead faith should be activated and patience should be used to back up faith. Positive, spiritual magnetic force is triggered when faith is in place, Patience however introduces consistency back up energy and makes faith sustainable until there is an actualisation of the things promised.
How is faith activated? Through the spoken words and our actions, faith is switched on. Abraham spoke words of belief, acted belief, he eventually after along time obtain the promise.
Hebrews 10: 35
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
When you have done the will of God through faith and obedience, patience must also added in other to take over the promise. There is surely over your life and my life. God has made up his mind. Sin and obedience must not be allowed. Faith and patience must be followed.
