THE ART OF EXCRETION
April 24, 2020

The Word:  2 Timothy 2: 20 – 22 (KJV)

[20] But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. [21] If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

John 15: 1 – 2
(KJV)

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Think about it
THE ART OF EXCRETION….
We ‘ve been studying the 7 characteristics of living things: Respiration, Nutrition, Excretion, Sensitivity, Movement, Growth, Reproduction. We already briefly discussed: Respiration and Nutrition. Let’s look at the art of excretion today:

What is excretion?
To  expel, eliminate or get rid of waste from the body.
All living things produce waste substances. By nature, these wastes have to be disposed of.

Jesus said ‘My father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit….’

Another word for excretion is to purge. Wastes can be dead cells, faeces, excess wax in the ears etc. The key thing about waste is that, it’s no longer needed in the body and if those wastes are not disposed, it will become harmful to the body. Let’s try and make it a bit practical:

1. Sin is like faeces. It puts off God. It will eventually prove harmful if kept.
2. Tithes are not our own. It’s God’s portion. If we keep it forcefully, It will become harmful to the rest of our finances
3. Atimes God wants us to give certain things to other people. When we keep this things, It becomes counterproductive.
4. Certain relationships are not helpful. We should have gotten rid of them a long time. Unless we eliminate them, it becomes a curse rather than a blessing.

Our memory verse for February
2 Peter 3: 18
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Let’s take a few moment to learn our memory verse for this month by heart. It can be memorised in 3 lines:
Line 1: But Grow in grace,
Line 2: And in the knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Line 3: To him be glory both now and for forever.

Once you say it a few times it will stick.
Prayer focus:  Father help me to get rid of the things that are not meant to be in my life IJN.
