TAPPING INTO THE POWERS OF PRAYER
April 24, 2020

The Word: Psalm 44: 1-2 (KJV)

We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

Dig Deeper: Psalm 44: 3(KJV)

For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

TAPPING INTO THE POWERS OF PRAYERS
As we discuss further our monthly theme of understanding seasons in the light of the greater context of NEXT LEVEL, It is important to know that consistent, heartfelt prayer is a catalyst for change of seasons. We see this in (James 5:16-18, 1 Kings 18: 41-44) where Elijah prayed seven times to change the season from a period of famine into a period of rainfall. So prayers is a catalyst for change of season. We have heard many sermons on prayers, we are still hearing more on prayers and we will continue to hear on prayers.

Today again is a reminder of the unlimited power we can tap from deliberate periods of prayers. Now I am not necessarily talking of just prayers of supplication whereby we pray for requests, rather I am talking of prayer of fellowship where we just embark on a consistent periods of prayers of just wanting to fellowship. We may not even know clearly what we are praying for, yet we just desire intimacy with the father. In this sort of prayers, seasons are changed and people are catapulted to the NEXT LEVEL like a flick of a finger. It happens in an automatic way.

In our text today, we read that the children of Israel did not possess the land by their own sword:

For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

The sword may represent our intellect, our smartness, how articulate we are, our education, exposure, analytic mind, gifts and potentials, beauty, influence, charm etc. Now these attributes are great. If you want to make friends easily and keep long lasting relations, these attributes will be helpful. But the verse is saying ultimately God’s favour is the factor that tips the balance in your favour not those gifts. Remember Psalm 127Unless the Lord builds the house, the labourers are labouring in vain….. So favour is important to take possession. In the place of intimate prayers, the button of favour is activated and when favour is on your side, you take possession of all that God has in store for you.

If you haven’t seen the NEXT LEVEL you are looking for, don’t give up, don’t give in, Still press in the place of intimate prayers, power will be released, grace will be released, direction will be released, favour will be released.

Nuggets:
God wants a continuous intimacy, It sometimes require this for a change of level to be effected.
