SERIOUS SEEKERS

The Word: Psalm 42: 1 (KJV)

As the deer panteth after the water, so my soul pants after you O God.

Dig DeeperIsaiah 55: 1(KJV)

1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Think about it

SERIOUS SEEKERS
Many times when we see online adverts, for instance car sales adverts, the seller may include a caption:

‘Only serious buyers please. No time wasters‘.

In other words the seller does not want to waster time and efforts on unserious people. God is also like that. He has no time for unserious seekers. God’s word says:

Jeremiah 29: 13
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

God likes us to give him focused, undivided attention and commitment. This is a basic attribute we must know about God, if we are to walk with him. Finding God is not for the casual observer. Deep relationship calls for undivided focus. Moses was taking care of his father in laws flocks. He saw a burning bush which signified the presence of God. But God did not call out to Moses until Moses decided to focus on the burning bush. That is symbolic. God may not be found by seekers who are not keen.

2 Chronicles 7: 14
If my people , who are called by name will humble themselves and seek my face…..

Man sometimes may seek God through a secluded time of prayers and fasting. But God may seem not to answer first day, second day or even in 1 week. Those delay time  are crucial for God to be satisfied that we are serious seekers. Until he perceives our seriousness in seeking him, there may be no answers to certain requests. God loves to be sought after. God wants us to seek him intentionally and wholeheartedly. God wants to see our diligence. When other things are turned off and the overriding desire is God and God alone, that is the time we are classified as determined seekers by him. God does not want to be second. He wants to be first in our lives. God gave his best to mankind: his only begotten son. He expects us to give our best back to him. With God it’s either all or nothing. Until God becomes the no 1 we won’t enjoy the depth of the quality of relationship with him. This month our focus is on seeking God. That is our calling, That is God’s desire, That is the expectation on our lives. We might have been casual observers before. God is drawing our attention to this fact that we can only get the best of him when we enrol in the school of  passionate, committed seekers.

Our memory verse for June 2018

Psalm 42: 1

As the deer panteth after the water, so my soul pants after you O God.

Let’s take a few moment to learn our memory verse for this month by heart. It can be memorised in 2 lines:
Line 1:  As the deer panteth after the water
Line 2: so my soul pants after you O God.

Once you say it a few times it will stick.

Prayer focus: Our next level prayers:
Lord help me to become a thirsty, passionate seeker of you
