PRAYING FOR OUR LEADERS
Gradually the first month in 2018 has come to an end. We need to give God praise.
In our texts today, At least 3 types of prayers are encouraged for our leaders and people in authority:
– Supplications
– Intercessions
– Thanksgiving
To supplicate is to make requests. To pray for specific things, to ask for certain blessings and favour, to ask for God’s help or intervention on a matter.
To intercede however is to pray for mercy on behalf of someone. Intercession always goes hand in hand with asking for forgiveness and repentance. So to intercede on behalf of someone is to pray repentance prayer on their behalf and ask for mercy. Typical example is Abraham interceding on behalf of Lot / Sodom and Gomorrah, Nehemiah interceding on behalf of the Israelites, Daniel interceding on behalf of the Israelites.
To pray for thanksgiving is to thank God for what he has done, to eulogise God, to exalt him, to appreciate him, to give him all the praise
So these 3 types of prayers, God wants us to do for our leaders. Repent on their behalf. Asf for mercy on their behalf, Make petitions on their behalf, And thank God on their behalf. Can we then go ahead and do these 3 things today……

Let’s take a few moment to learn our memory verse for this month by heart. It can be memorised in 2 lines:
Line 1: And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision,
Line 2: and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Once you say it a few times it will stick.
