The Word: Ephesians 6: 18 – 20 (KJV)

¹⁸ praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— ¹⁹ and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, ²⁰ for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

PRAYING FOR MISSIONARIES
2018 ought to be a year when we reach out more to the unsaved. It ought to be and will be a year of prayers going by how we started already. But it ought to be a year where we have concrete goals on reaching unbelievers to the Lord. The church ought to have Evangelism goals. The individuals ought to have evangelism goals. It should be a year of strategic evangelism. We need to do what works not just do anything for the sake of doing something

Our prayers today is for missionaries, evangelists, reaching out in intercession towards the lost, prayig for grace, provision, strength for those on the mission field.

In our text Paul wrote to 2 churches: The Ephesian church and the Colossian church and his request were basically similar:

– Firstly, he requested that the church continue to pray for missionaries and evangelists around the world (And by the way, we are all called to be evangelists. You may not be called to be a missionary but you are definitely called to the ministry of prayers and the ministry of sharing the word with unbelievers)

– Secondly, he requested that we should pray for open doors and opportunities for the gospel to be effectively shared.

– Thirdly, he asked that we should pray for boldness so that we can speak / witness clearly and confidently the way we ought to do. 

Well, that summarises our prayer point today: Praying for missionaries, for solid opportunities for evangelism this year, for grace and confidence for us to take those opportunities and for results as we do so.
