I DESIRE MERCY NOT SACRIFICE

Matthew 9: 13
The Word: Matthew 9: 13 (KJV)

13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Dig Deeper:
Hosea  6: 1-2, 6
(KJV)

1 Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Think about it

I DESIRE MERCY AND NOT SACRIFICE

In the school of answered prayers, Mercy is a key component. This because you will not qualify for some of your petition based on your holiness and righteousness. Mercy then needs to be applied.

So what is Mercy?
Mercy simply is having compassion even though the subject hasn’t qualified for it. Mercy always draws with it: forgiveness.
Compassion feeling will eventually culminate in forgiveness

Both mercy and forgiveness are children of grace because they are not earned exactly. Even when you have behaved well, they are still given at the discretion of the person in the higher position.

Psalm 102: 13
Thou shalt arise and have mercy upon Zion, for the time to favour her, yes the set time has come.

Your set time is your hour of Divine visitation. It’s when God says it’s time to intervene in your affairs. Now your set time brings a season grace and favour. But even before grace and favour comes, there must firstly be mercy (God’s heart softening towards you) God’s compassion is what triggers forgiveness (so your shortcomings are pardoned) Your account is now credited with the righteousness of Jesus. so you are now in right standing and fully qualify to receive the outpouring of God’s blessing.

So Mercy ( or Compassion) leads to forgiveness.
Mercy + Forgiveness = A season of grace and favour
A season of grace and favour = Set time (Your time of Divine visitation)

We will be lifting up our voice today and all we will be asking for is mercy. Divine mercy for the church, for our nation, for war torn areas like Syria and Iraq, for developing but poverty ridden areas of the African and Asian continent.
