HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM
April 24, 2020

The Word: Joel 2: 28 – 29(KJV)

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Acts 1: 2 – 4  (KJV)

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Think about it

HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM
Remember the definition for baptism is to Immerse or Dip.
The reason for baptism / immersion is to:
Soak, fill up, saturate, permeate, fill to overflowing, overload, drench, submerge, inundate, infuse, impregnate, penetrate, percolate.

We spoke on John’s water baptism and Jesus’ water baptism. Let’s talk on the Holy Spirit baptism.

God’s intention had always been to live inside of man so that we are one with him. When Jesus was leaving, he said: I will not leave you helpless. I will send you another helper (Parakletos) Someone to be by you. A person of the Godhead to live in you, guide you, direct you. At new birth, we have a measure of the Spirit of God. At Holy Spirit Baptism, we are immersed in his power and grace. The Holy Spirit baptism usually comes with speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and it’s usually done once. However we can keep getting filled of the Holy Spirit over and over again:

This is how it works:
Ephesians 5: 26
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Jude 1: 20
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

John 7: 38
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

We already have the Holy Spirit inside of us at new birth. But everytime we pray in tongues or we sing and worship in spiritual songs especially when embarking on a period of fasting, the water level of the Holy Spirit inside of us starts to rise. It is like when it rains heavily over a river. If the rainfall is significant the water of the river starts overflowing it’s bank. The water level of the Holy Spirit in us can overflow it’s bank and starts to flood and overwhelm us. And when we are overwhelmed, it brings, healing, wisdom, power, grace in it’s overflow. That is where God wants us to be: A place of constantly being filled. Not a place of dryness. We can trigger the overflow today through worship and praying in the Spirit

Every believer needs to be constantly filled with the Holy Spirit

Our memory verse for Jebruary 2018
John 3: 3

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Let’s take a few moment to learn our memory verse for this month by heart. It can be memorised in 2 lines:
Line 1:  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Line 2Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Once you say it a few times it will stick.
