GRACE FOR GRACE
Our text today talks about receiving ‘Grace for grace’. At first glance, it Sounds like a mere play with words…..Perhaps John the beloved was just being poetic. But we should never discard phrase in scriptures as mere play with words. Many armies, there are deeper meanings to a word.
Grace for grace…
Firstly, there is a grace to live under grace…..or let’s put it in a different way. There is an empowerment that makes you always wanting to please God. Now when you consistently please God on a daily basis, you perpetually live under grace. This is also what we call the Spirit of grace. Meaning you attract grace. The honey comb attracts bees…It’s their home. As they stay there, they also secrete more honey. They live inside the honey, they also produce more honey. God does not want his children to only be recipients of grace. God wants his children to become generators of grace. You encountered grace at salvation. But you must now become a channel of grace. Jesus is the ultimate source of grace, but through us, his grace oozes to others. That means grace is at such a high level in your life that it spills over and infects some other people. They too become recipient first and later generators of grace. Jesus was grace embodied. He was a a generator of favour and blessing. As he was, so we can be. The first part of Grace for grace is that you have an anointing or a magnet that constantly attracts grace. But the second part is you now even become a factory for grace.
Now in mathematics, when you square a number, you multiply that number by itself. So the square of 2 = 4. The square of 3 = 9. The square of 4 = 16. The square of 5 = 25. Now this is not doubling the numbers, this is a principle of increasing the geometrically by itself as a factor. So the higher the number, the higher the result of the square. Let’s draw parallels between the mathematics square and our text. Grace for grace is what we can call Grace square. That is grace multiplied by itself. Now God is not a waster of grace. It’s a commodity that should not be wasted. However you can square the grace already on your life this year by aggressively finding channels to express it..
Remember Our memory verse for January:
2 Corinthians 9: 8
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
God is able. God is also willing
