Think about it
GROW IN GRACE
Like we mention yesterday, it’s not enough to enjoy the Grace of God. We ought to grow (improve, increase, multiply, be strengthened, develop) in the grace that we have been privileged to enjoy. Let’s take a moment to consider the synonyms we used for growth: improve, increase, multiply, be strengthened, develop. Every of these synonyms talks about getting better.… That is the key word. God wants me to get better. So God does not like the status quo. As far as God is concerned there should be an improvement from last year, last month, yesterday. We should relentlessly strive to become better.

Proverbs 4: 18
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

That shineth more and more….

Someone once said: there is no middle ground, the day you stop learning, that is the day you start dying. So there is no sitting on the fence, we are either improving or we are sliding back. This relentless pursuit to get better is the secret of highly effective people of excellence.

Perhaps, you have been at thesame role for months or years, how can your responsibility be done better? There is a saying: ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. In other words if it is bringing result and it’s not damaged why tamper with it? That is true and has wisdom. However in other to improve, you may need to damage a working system, improve on it to create a better system because you are looking at the long term.

A man / woman stops growing physically after a while. When they have a child, the child will grow physically, catch up with them and even grow taller. The mobile phone you bought 3-4 years ago are now outdated because there is continuous growth in the tech world. Note this: If we ever stop growing (developing, improving) Others around will grow (improve), catch up with us and leave us behind. When you have nothing to offer, your relevance will be diminished. That’s life.

Let’s take a few moment to learn our memory verse for this month by heart. It can be memorised in 3 lines:
Line 1: But Grow in grace,
Line 2: And in the knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Line 3: To him be glory both now and for forever.

Once you say it a few times it will stick. Paul was saying: But grow in grace…. In order words, whatever you do this year, don’t forget to grow…..

I must grow and improve this year……

Our memory verse for February
