The Word: Daniel 9: 2 – 3(KJV)
2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. 3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

4 And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; 5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:

PRAYING FOR OUR NATIONS AND CHURCHES II
We are still continuing our prayers for our nation and churches today….
God wants us to learn Intercessory prayers. Almost everyone who has had a great walk with God have learnt along the way that intercession is close to the heart of God.
What is intercession?
Simply praying for others.
Why is it important?
Because God has given man the dominion on earth and because man has legal authority, most times, God will not get involved unless man specifically ask him to get involved. So intercessory prayers can be defined as man pleading with God for mercy and also legally inviting God to get involved in our affairs.
In our text today, we read that Daniel understood by books. So Daniel was a reader. He took time out (even in his busy schedule) to read the writing of Prophet Jeremiah. And that is when he understood that they were only meant to be in captivity for 70 years. Regardless of how busy our schedule is, we must learn to take 30 – 45min of quietness / day to read and study. 24 hours is never enough anyway. So might as well learn to shut down and read what will benefit us.
So Daniel started praying…..
3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
If you and I have taken time to pray for our family members, maybe some of the divorce or family separation could have been avoided. If we had taken time to pray for some of our acquaintances, maybe, perhaps maybe even some deaths and accidents could have been avoided. If we had prayed for our community, maybe the awareness of God would have been better. If we had taken time to pray for this nation and also taken a clear stand, maybe some of the policies and government direction would have been different.
Today is on of those days that we pray for others.
– We will pray for the body of Christ in the UK – for unity, togetherness, oneness
– We will pray for a new spiritual awakening in our communities
– We will pray for a new visitation of God in the house of parlament
– We will pray for a release of God’s power in our church services
– We will pray for our pregnant women for safe delivery, our old men and women for strength and our youths for direction and wisdom.
God is looking for a man…. Today is about interceding for others. Please say yes to that need today

Line 1: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
