AN UNENDING FLOW OF GRACE

Genesis 39: 2-4
The Word: Genesis 39: 2 – 4 (KJV)

And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

Genesis 39: 5
(KJV)

And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

Think about it
AN UNENDING FLOW OF GRACE
A few people in the scriptures clearly enjoyed the spirit of grace.
To enjoy the spirit of grace, God needs to be happy or pleased with you. That is a simple definition: Grace can mean God is happy with you. When God is pleased with a man, it means God is delighted, satisfied or has approved that individual. Please note those 3 words: delighted, satisfied and approved. The spirit of grace is like an aura, like a cloud or the air. It can be sensed, it can also be felt.
It’s not everyone who enjoys this. Disfavour is the opposite. When someone carries the spirit of disfavour, it will be noticed. Jonah is a case in point. He got everybody into trouble by his disobedience, Achan was another example. Stole the accursed things from Jericho. King Saul was another example. Got Jonathan and his other children killed because God was unhappy with him. That’s why everyone should not be your friend because you don’t know what they carry. Similarly when someone carries grace other people will notice. Lot was blessed because of Abraham, Laban was blessed because of Jacob, Potiphar was blessed because of Joseph. The Philistines realised Isaac was definitely blessed of God.

A few examples of people who enjoyed this rare flow are:

Jesus: He grew up, waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom. Grace of God was upon him – Luke 2: 40
Enoch: He so much pleased God that God took him away – Genesis 5: 24
Noah: He found grace in the sight of God – Genesis 6: 8
Moses: God told him, he had found grace in his sight – Genesis 39: 4
Esther: She obtained favour with everyone – Esther 2: 15 -17
David: He was wise, prudent, and carried God’s presence. – 1 Samuel 16: 18

Now let’s go a little in depth from our text today and take Joseph as a case study:

1- The Lord was with him – You can’t carry the spirit of grace without God’s presence…. In him was life and the life was the light of men…
2- He was a prosperous man – Because he carried God’s presence, he became prosperous
3- His master saw that the Lord was with him – It becomes evident for others to see
4- And Joseph found grace – The spirit of grace brings favour
5- The Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake – You enjoy the blessing.

To enjoy the spirit of grace, God’s sovereignty comes in place. You are chosen just by grace. However to maintain this flow, your obedience and abiding in him is the key to the unending flow…

Prayer focus:  Lord thank you for the spirit of grace. Let the flow never stop…
