Jude 1: 20 (AMP)
But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit;
Think about it
BEING LED OF GOD….
We ‘ve been studying the 7 characteristics of living things: Respiration, Nutrition, Excretion, Sensitivity, Movement, Growth, Reproduction. Let’s dig deeper again into the art of sensitivity today.
There are different levels of sensitivity
Our sensitivity or ability to be led by God’s Spirit can be improved on.
When God first called Samuel, he did not even recognise the voice of God. He thought it was Eli. But it got to a stage that Samuel grew, improved and became more precise and sharper.
1 Samuel 3: 19
19 And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
So we can become sharper in the things of the spirit. We can amplify our spiritometer (if there is any word like that) by certain activities.
1. Quality time: Even if its 30min of fellowship time, let it be quality. Let there be no distraction. Let there be no phone answering. Let it not be the time that we remember the food on the cooker… Let it be a time just for the Lord.
2. Praying in the language of the Holy Spirit: This is something very powerful. It should be done everyday. In the car, in the toilet, in the bus… anywhere. We don’t have to appear weird but we can still find time to connect to the heavenlies. When you start to pray in tongues, your earthly embassy (your spirit) is connecting to the home office (heaven) and sending communications. Listen to how the amplified puts it:
Jude 1:20
But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit;
So you make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher when you pray in the language of the Holy Spirit. The problem with a lot of us is that we are trying to understand praying in tongues with our mind. We are trying to analyse it. Well you can analyse for the next 50 years. You still won’t understand it with the secular mind. Meanwhile you would have lost an important facility of the Holy Spirit that could have aided you. Some things you don’t analyse, you just believe. This is scriptures, it’s not conjured up by a man. Why not go ahead and praise him in the language of the spirit today.
Our memory verse for February
2 Peter 3: 18
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Let’s take a few moment to learn our memory verse for this month by heart. It can be memorised in 3 lines:
Line 1: But Grow in grace,
Line 2: And in the knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Line 3: To him be glory both now and for forever.
Once you say it a few times it will stick.
Prayer focus: Father help me to pray as inspired by your Spirit today…. IJN.
