The Word: Romans 6: 3 – 4(KJV)
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

WHY WATER BAPTISM AS A BELIEVER?
We already said to baptise is to Immerse or Dip. The reason for immersion is to:
– Soak, fill up, saturate, permeate, fill to overflowing, overload, drench, submerge, inundate, infuse, impregnate, penetrate, percolate.
There are 3 basic types of baptism in the scriptures:
– John’s water baptism
– Jesus’ water baptism
– Holy Spirit baptism
We said John’s water baptism is a baptism of repentance and the water signifies the place of the word in getting our conscience convicted so that we can turn to the living God (Ephesians 5: 26, Romans 10:17). John’s baptism stands for the place of the word in getting us born again
Let’s look at the importance of Jesus’ water baptism.
Galatians 3: 26 – 27
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
After Jesus died and resurrected he left an instruction for the disciples that as many people who believe were to be baptised in the name of the father, of the son and the Holy Spirit (Mark 16:15 -16, Matthew 28: 19 – 20). This baptism went further than John’s baptism. It did not only represent repentance, it meant that the person baptised associated and connected to the death and the resurrection of Jesus. So the water baptism in the name of Jesus was a convocation ceremony of what happened at new birth: the old man dies, we put on the new. It’s a baptism of redemption (signifies being covered by the blood of Jesus). a baptism of death to old self and a resurrection or becoming alive with a brand new spirit. Water baptism is a celebration of the sacrifice of Jesus and what happens spiritually when we become born again. There are quite a no of benefits to this:
– Being water baptised sends a message to the Kingdom of Hell that you have physically associated with the kingdom of light. It is a physical declaration that you have changed citizenship.
– Water baptism can trigger deliverance from satanic bondage
– Water baptism is ceremony of allegiance
– Water baptism could trigger open heavens – As Jesus stepped out of Jordan, the heaven opened over him
– Water baptism could even hasten Holy Spirit Baptism in certain instances
If you have not been water baptised, you need to register after this series on new birth.
