TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS

The Word: Psalm 90: 12 (KJV)

12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Dig DeeperEphesians 5: 16 – 17(KJV)

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Think about it

TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS
There is a dimension of God that promises long life:

Psalm 91: 16
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

So ideally God wants to satisfy us with long life, He doesn’t want us to die prematurely. He wants us to fulfil our days. There is however another dimension of God where i’s not how long we live but how well.

Enoch lived 365 years when people were living about 900 years. Jesus lived 33 years. So while long life is part of the covenant, There is the more important clause that how well we live is more important than how long in terms of numbers.

That is why the Psalmist wrote our text today:

12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

– God has a plan for everyone he created
– Those plans may be fulfilled and they may not be
– We can know God’s plan for us through the help of the Holy Spirit
– Everyone has a time appointed to fulfil that plan
– The time appointed can be shortened by careless living, it can also be lengthened by special request in prayer
– To fulfil God’s plan, Prayer, right attitude, personal development are very important.
